Jobless man charged with cheating online shopper

AN UNEMPLOYED man was charged on Thurday with cheating a 15-year-old online shopper of $134. Chew Kiew Cheng, 28, is accused of committing the offence with his 19-year-old girlfriend between Oct 12 and 14.

He is said to have created and posted on the Internet website www.nicespree.blogspot.com that he had teenage apparel and fashion wear for sale.

The alleged victim was duped into ordering seven pairs of jeans and transferring $134 to his POSB savings account for the goods.

The girlfriend has not been charged. The prosecution asked Chew to be remanded for another week as he is believed to be involved in similar cases.

His case will be brought up again on Oct 31.

Anyone who had bought items from the website or nice-spree.blogspot.com should call the Police hotline at 1800-255 0000.

The offence of cheating carries as maximum jail term of up to seven years
